Find ground where there is no ground.

Philosophy

Relationships are the materiel life is made of. If relationships thrive, we are embedded, we feel alive and cared for. If relationships don’t thrive but fail, we often lose grip in our life, we feel there is no ground under our feet anymore. Sometimes this happens “loudly,” like the shaking of an earthquake. Much more often, however, our crises are “quiet”. Then it is like we are silently walking onto quicksand and becoming stuck especially when we try to move on. In counseling we create space for an impetus and find new ground on which you can experience your relational live steady, joyful and fulfilled.

Counseling

Individuals

When something in your very own relational world is pressing you to work on it.

Couples & Partners

When your shared world, the “Us”, is irritated and shaken.

Professionals

When ruptures complicate your pedagogical, teaching, counseling, or helping activities.

Training

The range of services includes psychoeducational training programs which provide in-depth learning on a variety of key topics in the field of relationships and their dynamics, such as wounding in relationships, challenged relationship systems, relationship dynamics rooted in power imbalances, relationships and contextual stress, relationships between cultures etc.. Ongoing counseling sessions can be supplemented with training, or training can be requested independently. Learning formats include lectures, seminars, and workshops.

Antje Schneider

I love people and their life stories. I love untangling their entangled histories. I love helping them find ground in circumstances no solid ground can be experienced. That's my competence. My competence is based on an integrative philosophy of counseling that I have developed in decades of learning and working with people in a variety of different fields, but always in challenged contexts.

Zaka

The name "Zaka Counseling" is an hommage to a region which I associate essential moments of my professional growth. With Zaka, the focus shifts to Haiti, especially to Haiti's Voodoo tradition. Zaka as the "Spirit of the Land" refers to our profound connection to the earth and reminds us of a quality inherent in all flourishing relationships: a melange of love, connectedness, vitality, steadiness, and deep joy. In this sense, Zaka becomes a symbol that guides and supports our work in counseling.
